Unclutter in Two Easy Steps
Clutter is a little monster that grows each day... until the day it scares us. It scares us because it makes us feel weak, depressed, and out of control.
So, how does one conquer a monster? Just thinking about it is enough to make us run and hide.
1. Work small and give yourself 20 minutes.
Never, and I said never think about your clutter as a whole. Break it down; think about one little corner, rather than a whole room.
If you start thinking about the whole room, tell yourself Ò I do not need to worry about the rest of the house right now, I am cleaning here and it feels good.Ó When finished, if you have another 20 minutes add another area, but remember, work small.
2. Plan big.
Yes, here you can let your imagination run wild. Think big. Create the space you dream of, the sweet home that you and your family deserve. Imagine the home that will provide good energy and memories for the rest of your life. You can write down your plans in a notebook, you can even get pictures from magazines and glue it next to your plans. Give yourself a clean picture of what you want to accomplish. This will help you stay on track and help motivate you.
For specific rooms use these examples as a springboard for ideas of your own:
Imagine, imagine, imagine.......
Creating a dream home in your mind can be the weapon to defeat the monster of clutter. Imagination will help you stay motivated.
The secret to a sweet uncluttered home is to work small during the cleaning process, and plan big about your finished, peaceful haven.
